Balkanization

The term balkanization is when everyone on a team is focused on their own tasks and is not concerned about how they can collaborate with other teams. They do this unknowingly because they don’t have a unifying goal. By having a unified goal, the silos will start to disappear. When organizations rally around a shared purpose, teams begin to break down silos naturally and work together toward outcomes that benefit the business as a whole.
